Whale 20 meters runs aground and dies in Calais

A whale almost 20 meters long, weighing 15 tons, ran aground in the French port of Calais, after being injured on the rocks, and then died. “At first we thought that we could help her,” said an exponent of an animal rights association, Michel Charpentier, adding that the whale unfortunately died within an hour. It was, he explained, a female specimen already old, about thirty years old. The carcass will be recovered and subjected to necropsy.
