This Sunday, November 7 in the LCI / RTL grand jury /Le Figaro, Arnaud Montebourg made a surprisingly surprising proposition coming from a left-wing candidate for the election presidential. And for good reason, he proposes to block money transfers to countries that refuse to repatriate their nationals covered by an obligation to leave the territory.

“Why can’t we integrate? Today you have 100,000 compulsory measures weighing on people who have to leave the territory that cannot be carried out. These people are there and, moreover, are often delinquents. So I have decided to hit the wallet, ”said the former Minister of Productive Recovery.

Before continuing: “There are 11 billion money transfers going through Western Union to all countries of origin. We block all transfers as long as we do not have a reception of cooperation ”. For Arnaud Montebourg, “these private money transfers are a godsend for these countries and today we need to say: ‘that’s enough’”.

“Creepy terrain”

As soon as it was pronounced, this proposition made people leap to the left. First to react, Jean-Luc Mélenchon asked Arnaud Montebourg to reconsider his statement. “It would be a cruel mistake to ban wage transfers to family in the home country in the name of bad government actions. Acknowledge the mistake. There is enough anxiety like that. Do not pass on this murky ground ”, tweeted the leader of rebellious France, judging in a second publication this idea “stupid” since, according to him, it “will increase the causes of emigration”.

Always on the rebellious side, the LFI deputy for Seine-Saint-Denis Bastien Lachaud also expressed his indignation. “Singer the abject and stupid ideas of the far right in the hope of being noticed. Vain and deleterious posture, which feeds the race for the worst ”, lambasted the elected, qualifying Arnaud Montebourg of“ rantanplan of zemmourism ”. Same dismay on the side of the ecologist Sandrine Rousseau. “Arnaud come back with us! On the left, leaving the studio, ”she reacted. “When ‘the Remontada’ is done on the right, really on the right,” added Matthieu Orphelin.

If the left is indignant, the extreme right drinks whey. Because indeed, only two candidates had so far made this proposal, Marine Le Pen and Éric Zemmour. The latter was also quick to point it out on Twitter, by sharing an excerpt from one of his videos in which the polemicist says almost exactly what Arnaud Montebourg said on Sunday.

“We could also block the remittances of immigrant workers from our country to their countries of origin. We could block them, we could tax them. There are pressure tactics to force these countries to take back their illegals, ”says the essayist in this sequence. Which, unsurprisingly, led Éric Zemmour to add this mocking comment: “Out of ideas, Montebourg watched the videos from my YouTube channel in replay. Bravo Arnaud ”.
