Nine months after he became infected with the coronavirus, he is still unable to work, but he seems to have won the hardest fight of his life thanks to all the doctors who fought for his life for weeks. I had blue fingertips and lips

It was not enough for the life journey of a 53-year-old man from Moldava nad Bodvou to end prematurely. Štefan Szűcs probably contracted the metal during the February national testing, which he participated in as a city police officer in order to ensure public order. “In the first days, I felt pain in my joints and lower backs and I also had temperatures. A strong cough and chest pain followed. That’s when I decided to call for ambulance. ” recalls the beginning of the fight with the virus man from Medzev.

Štefan’s ambulance was taken to a hospital in Košice, where he received an injection and was released home after about an hour. But the situation did not improve and by two days he was coughing so hard that he had trouble talking. Therefore, he called an ambulance again, which again took him to the hospital in Košice. “Upon arrival, I already had blue fingertips and lips. They found bilateral pneumonia. I got to the JIS department, where I was for 3 weeks, ” describes a fast sequence of events.

He ended up on the devices in a difficult state

The condition did not improve and the blood oxygen saturation was low, so Štefan was transferred from the Infectious Diseases Clinic to ARO and introduced for artificial lung ventilation. Subsequently, he was transferred to the covid department of the AGEL Košice-Šaca Hospital. “The patient was brought to us in a very difficult condition, which was further complicated by pulmonary embolism. Eight weeks in artificial sleep

I began to perceive the world around me on my birthday on April 9th. “INso I learned that I had been in artificial sleep for 8 weeks. I was transferred from the covid department to the ARO, from where I later got to the institute in Vyšné Hágy. Only here did I manage to get back on my feet and learn to walk. I lost about 30 kg, ” describes his story a sympathetic cop.

“As for the staff, whether in Košice or in the hospital in Šac, I can say that I am extremely satisfied. Patient care is at a very high level and all the doctors and nurses who took care of me all the time deserve a huge thank you for saving my life. ” After a long stay in medical facilities, Štefan returned home in mid-May. He began to rehabilitate, improve his gait, practice breathing exercises that help in the post-covid stage.

His health is improving, but he is still unable to work and undergoes various lung tests. In addition to all, he managed to get married. “My girlfriend and I have been together for 6 years. Since I got home from the hospital healthy, I said to myself that I would ask for her hand and we got married in September. ” he said. The announcement of the wedding was especially pleasing to the nurses from the Šačany hospital, who watched Štefan’s fight for life from close proximity.

COVID changed me

They sent a congratulatory telegram to the newlyweds. “It looked so bad for him that few believed he could get away with it.
