Launched in October 2001, Star Academy celebrates its twentieth anniversary this year. On the occasion of the show’s second anniversary bonus, many students from the second class agreed to meet again, to the delight of their fans. If the production invited Emma Daumas, Sofia Essaïdi, Nolwenn Leroy, but also Magalie Vaé, she did not wish to invite Georges-Alain Jones because of an old controversy. Indeed, the young man had brought serious accusations against Star Academy. “Now I can admit it was all rigged! I had discovered that it was me and Emma Daumas who had to go to the final. It was decided even before the show! I went crazy and the producers organized my elimination in the semi-finals, because I threatened to throw everything away. My problem is that I was older than the other candidates and that I understood the inner workings“, he assured the Parisian.

In an interview with TV-Leisure, it was after the controversy that Georges-Alain Jones had confided: “It’s just the word ‘rigged’ that’s actually embarrassing. But where do we draw the line between ‘rigging’ and ‘directing’? Everyone sees things as they want. I find the word ‘rigged’ very violent. Orientation to video editing on TV, everyone who does TV knows how it works. It’s a little hard to denigrate the system, because to give rhythm to a show, a program, a documentary, you need editing. So we all know so what’s the problem with that?“Finally, he added:”I discovered it at the time, because people outside told me that you only saw me on the air when I was nominated. You don’t have to leave Saint-Cyr to understand the inner workings. I made a mistake subscribing to a show that was not suitable for me. But that’s not spitting in the soup!“

Georges-Alain Jones will not participate in the bonus

A few weeks earlier, it was Houcine, candidate for the second season of the star Academy, who had revealed that Georges-Alain Jones would not be present at the anniversary bonus. Disappointed, he said then: “Yet I harassed the prod to be there!“
