Basque Country: nearly a hundred people gathered in Urcuray against the Pichet – South West real estate project

“We’re here to find out more,” says a resident of the Hazpandar district of Urcuray, located at the entrance to Cambo-les-Bains. The latter, like a hundred people, was present at the demonstration organized by a collective which is strongly mobilized against a real estate project that Pichet wants to launch.

The group based in Pessac intends to build fifty-two housing units on land that became constructible in 2017 but to which the town hall aspires to return its agricultural vocation. “It’s inconceivable. We want to preserve the soul of the neighborhood as well as our agricultural identity with our nourishing lands, ”says Sébastien Durritzague, deputy mayor of Hasparren in charge of roads, networks and the living environment, from a platform mounted on a tractor.

“We already have access and parking problems with our cars. Imagine with 100 more vehicles ”, launches this other activist. A petition has also been launched.
