The name Marie Rottrová is synonymous with charisma and an unmistakable voice. Her songs are loved by several generations of listeners and her interpretation of the so-called black music, which earned her the nickname Lady Soul. It is by selecting songs from genres such as soul, blues or gospel that the exceptional lady of Czech pop music will celebrate her significant anniversary this year.

He will celebrate his 80th birthday Marie Rottrová next Saturday, November 13, no Supraphon already today (November 5) he is releasing a vinyl album called Lady Soul 14x / 1970-2021. The recording contains 13 of her older hits, but also a new song Pozhasínej.

“A song Pozhasínej my son Vítek wrote a few years ago, so I listened to him from him. When I was thinking about a new bonus song for the upcoming LP, it occurred to me. I like it, it has a festive atmosphere and the LP is released shortly before Christmas, “says Marie Rottrová about her new song, which fans will find as the final bonus on the LP and also in all streaming services.

On the margin of thirteen soul hits, which are the basis of the album, Rottrová writes in the accompanying text inside the vinyl cover: “Journalists and viewers often ask me which of my songs I like best. When I answer them, I sometimes forget about the soul from my beginnings, which I love. Maybe my parents, who bought me a radio on which Radio Luxembourg could be tuned in in the 1960s and discovered a new world, were responsible for this! we met the goal – to play soul! We met at home, recorded songs on a tape recorder, wrote our own and passionately played them on ‘teas’. , and our recordings hit Supraphon records. “

Listeners on the LP will find songs whose original versions were sung and written by artists such as Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, Don Covay or duo Ashford & Simpson.
