Police in trade intervened against opponents of robes – SME | MY Trnava – SME.sk

PIEŠTANY. The police were called yesterday evening to a supermarket in the town of Piešťany, where a group of people refused to put on respirators or leave the area and blocked other shoppers from accessing the cash register. In this district, wearing a respirator is mandatory under the ordinance. The situation was first tried by the staff and the private security service. After disobeying calls, police patrols asked for help.

Called patrols repeatedly urged the group to cover their upper airways or to leave the store to allow other customers in peace to complete their purchase. According to the law, the police asked the problem group of people to present identity documents. These persons were suspected of a public health offense and their identification was necessary for further action. People did not cooperate with the police, their actions made the situation more difficult, and all the while they behaved arrogantly and refused to obey the police’s calls.

We continue to investigate the circumstances, as well as the very course of the physical conflict in which police officers were forced to use coercive means. Two police officers and one man were injured in the incident. The injured were treated once in a hospital.

The whole case was taken over by an investigator on the spot and in connection with the incident he started criminal prosecution for the offenses of attack on a public official and rioting. Police patrols restricted the personal liberty of 3 men from the Nitra region, who are currently placed in CPZ. The supervisor assessed that the service intervention was performed in accordance with the law.

The police identify all persons who refused to obey the police’s calls. Subsequently, they will be notified to the relevant RÚVZ for further proceedings. They are probably the same people who act in a similar way in other districts and regions.

After the attack, two persons filed a criminal complaint for abuse of power of a public official, which will be dealt with by the Ministry of the Interior of the Slovak Republic.
