Zeman was severely malnourished, doctor confirmed liver disease – SME.sk

BRATISLAVA. Czech president Miloš Zeman he was severely malnourished on arrival at the hospital and doctors inserted a feeding tube (PEG) into his stomach.

This was told for Radiožurnál by cardiac surgeon Pavel Pafko, who is a member of Zeman’s medical council.

The doctor confirmed that Zeman has chronic liver disease and will remain in the hospital for several more weeks. The news portal informs about it Novinky.cz.

The probe was a sensible decision

When asked by the moderator about speculation that the president suffers from liver cirrhosis, Pafko replied: “Yes, so everything is clear.” He then explained that cirrhosis has had little or no symptoms for many years.

According to Pafek, the president’s anorexia is part of the symptoms of his liver disease. His condition has improved significantly in the hospital.

“Mr. President currently has PEG. It was very reasonable that they inserted a probe for him, “he stated. Doctors introduced Zeman’s probe on October 10, when they took him to Prague’s Central Military Hospital.

He is in contact with politicians

Zeman’s doctor Miroslav Zavoral also allegedly told Pafka that the president would be in the hospital “at least three or four more weeks”.

The doctoral council met on Friday. He said the president’s situation had improved, but he still could not devote himself fully to work. According to him, it is not possible to determine the prognosis of further development of the health condition, because Zeman’s disease is “itself difficult to treat.”

Zeman spoke to the media for the first time since his hospitalization on Friday. He said on Frekvence 1 that he felt normal, but he also said that it did not look good on him.
