At the age of 26, Brazilian singer Marília Mendoncová tragically died in a plane crash on Friday. According to the AFP news agency, she was one of the most popular music performers in her country.

Mendon traveled on a small Beechcraft King Air with her music producer and uncle, who was a member of her team. No one on board survived, killing two pilots. The accident occurred in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais, firefighting sources said. The cause of the accident was not immediately known.

According to footage provided by the regional television station, the plane crashed in rocky terrain near a waterfall. The singer was to play a concert in Caratinga on Friday night.

Mendoncová became famous for the Brazilian music genre sertanejo, which is similar to American country. In 2019, the singer won the Latin Grammy Award. Mendon left a two-year-old son.
