At least eight dead in stampede at Texas music festival

The mourning music world in the United States. At least eight people were killed and several others injured in a panic on Friday, November 5, in Astroworld music festival in Houston, in the south of the country, authorities reported.

“The crowd started to rush to the front of the stage. It created a start of panic which resulted in injuries,” said Houston Fire Chief Samuel Pena.

“We have at least eight confirmed deaths tonight and several injured,” he said, adding that 17 people had been taken to hospital, including 11 victims of cardiac arrest.

According to several witnesses, rapper Travis Scott’s concert continued despite repeated requests to interrupt it from several panicked festival-goers.

For three years, Travis Scott has organized this music festival in Houston, his hometown.
