Debut in the ring. I didn’t want a rapper or a boxer

“If they raised his hand after the first fight, I wouldn’t say anything. After retaliation, I felt again that I had won. And they attributed it to him. It was a balanced match, his atypical, crazy style didn’t suit me. ”

Neither of you identified with the loss. Is this also a motive for closing the trilogy?

“Definitely ‘I’ve been looking for an opponent for a long time, I wanted a peer – not a rapper without a boxing past or an orthodox boxer with five titles. At the end of my documentary, Newton says we have 1-1 and we could meet again. He’s already finished his MMA career, more or less too, I’m just waiting for one offer. So we decided to do it in the box. ”

Karlos Vémola also has a scheduled match in the ring. If I dig a little, would you consider him a self-rival boxer?

“At all. If he challenged me, I’d take off my hat in front of him. But that will probably never happen. I take Carlos as a peer at MMA, and I say that with great humility. ”

The fall? I don’t regret anything, I put everything into it

At the time of the fights, Newton was the 11th best semi-heavyweight in the world, you were 17. You did not compete in the UFC, and you rejected the contract several times. Are you sorry?

“I regret nothing. All these decisions as well as losses and bad times were part of my journey and I might not be where I am today. I am satisfied with my life. ”

Did you have to confuse water in the UFC as well?

“I was the world champion in the second most prestigious organization, so I was on the right track. However, it is hypothetical, I did not taste the UFC level. If, after the end in Bellatore, they offered me better conditions than KSW, we would find out. If… If my grandmother had a tail in front, I would call her grandpa (laughs). ”

After winning the title in Bellatore, you lost four times in a row. Octagon co-owner Pavol Neruda told for ŠPORT.sk: “Attila could have achieved even greater success. I wouldn’t say he relaxed. Rather, after reaching a great goal, he was mentally satisfied. This happens in sports. When you fight for the title, instead of 10 clicks you make 15. Once you are the champion, you will be satisfied with ten. ” Is he right about something?

“MMA perceives from a different perspective, he has not struggled in his life. By winning the title, I achieved one goal, but that does not mean that I no longer wanted to be the best and defend. Of the four losses, three were points. MMA is also about details and happiness. As I had in the first match with Newton, not in the second. If I played those even matches, people would say I was king. That’s how they could say I was a cart. But I know I put everything into it. ”

There may be more boxing. The cuttings won’t stop me

You have had a nice life without the UFC. How does the body now manage two-phase training five times a week after a two-year break (last with Vémol on November 9, 2019)?

“When you train all your life, the body remembers it and gets into it faster. Of course, I’m no longer a 22-year-old ‘wild boar’, but I feel good. This is my life, I love doing it. The main thing is that I have a mission and a new challenge again. Without it, I have no motivation to train twice a day. ”

Is it more difficult for you to prepare for a match in MMA or boxing?

“This preparation is not as demanding as e.g. the last on Carlos. Not to underestimate her, but part of her is not suffering on earth. That’s the hard part. Although I train the ground to a lesser extent because of my condition and strength, because I don’t like dumbbells. I boxed minimally in MMA preparations. At the same time, I love the attitude, so boxing training fits me better. ”

In the long run, MMA harms the body rather than benefits it. You have been training for years and you have struggled with a bandage on your knees. Do you have any injuries?

“I had knee surgery 3-4 years ago. Thankfully, I have nothing to do with him, but he is still not as strong as before the operation. In training, however, I also kick with kicks on that leg. I wear the bandage more for a better feeling if something happens. You need some unfortunate undermining during training against the wall. ”

Who will go to the corner?

“The team will be the same as in MMA, I will decide on a lapper.”

So also Ilja Škondrič?

“I do not know it. It’s about boxing, Ilja tunes my MMA. Maybe I don’t even need coaching as much as in MMA. ”

Do you also cooperate with Tom “Kid” Kovács?

“Not. But he called me, he was very golden. Jožko Murín and Miško Vičan from Bratislava Boxing also gave me a helping hand. If I need anything, I’ll call them or catch up. ”

In June, you said there would be two boxing matches. Is that still true?

“It is true. And maybe there will be more. It all depends on how the first fight turns out and whether I like the ring. ”

You are an eater and for the first time in your career you have a match shortly after Christmas. Aren’t you afraid of that?

“It will also be a pain in connection with the fact that I need to lose another 13 kg (the limit is up to 95 kg). Wife likes to fry, does various caloric filth (laughs). But I have a clear goal and the cuts won’t stop me. ”

Return to the cage? I still have a rocket in me

Do you plan to use the return to the form to return to the cage?

“Yes, we also have something to discuss with Octagon. I feel like I still have the rocket that people want to see in me. ”

Do you have an appointment that would be attractive for your return?

“I think if it is, then at the end of next year.”

Is it true that there is only one option in the game – a well-paid match against Vémol?

“Exactly.”

Would it make sense to you even if he had previously lost to your trustee Samuel “Pirate” Krištofič?

“It doesn’t matter to me, people are curious about revenge. Before the Match of the Century, I lost to Virgil Zwicker and people were still interested. When Carlos loses to the “Pirate” he loses, it won’t affect our match. ”

Octagon promoter Ondřej Novotný revealed for ŠPORT.skthat you received an offer of retaliation. With the fact that it will not be higher. On the contrary, it will only be lower with time. Did it fulfill your expectations and have you already answered?

“I have not yet commented, we are waiting for a joint meeting. We already had three and we have nothing closed yet. In my opinion, this offer is not final, we have to sit down and fine-tune some things. So I won’t even say if she fulfilled my expectations. ”

“What should I thank him for? For digging into me for a year and humiliating me? That he told me how he would beat, kill and destroy me? That everyone, including me, knew I would lose? That I had suffered for a year, that he was the most serious and that he would hang himself after the loss? Great that he graduated. He knows how to do it, he really does it. Will a possible retaliation with Vémol definitely be the last match in MMA’s career?

“I will probably never say the last word. I don’t want to be like many who ended up and then came back. Maybe I’ll “get rid of” and be ‘wasted’ in my sixties. Of course, I have other priorities. Before, I was fired anywhere and I trained there as a pit bull, I would also stand up to a tank. Today I am the head of the family and I want to protect her, so I also pay attention to injuries. ”
