“L’Incal”, the cult comic book by Moebius and Jodorowsky, will be adapted for cinema by Taika Waititi – franceinfo

This is big news for countless comic book fans. The Incal signed Jodorowsky / Moebius: the work will be adapted for cinema, by the Oscar-winning director of Jojo rabbit, Taika Waititi, announced his editor.

“Alejandro Jodorowsky’s films and comics have influenced me and so many others for a very long time”, says Taika Waititi in a press release from the publishing house Humanoid Associates. At the base of the “Jodoverse” – set encompassing several successful comics such as The Meta-Baron Caste Where Megalex – this graphic novel rocked the director’s childhood.

The Incal was born after Jodorowsky’s failure to bring the novel to the screen Dune by Frank Herbert. The book, which is the world’s best-selling science fiction comic, tells the story of a private investigator – John Difool – who accidentally discovers a powerful artifact named The Incal. The item is coveted across the galaxy by multitudes of factions. Despite himself, the detective – so far rather pathetic – finds himself obliged to save the whole universe. Just that !
