Horch is coming back! Audi really built an opponent for Maybach – PRAVDA.sk

Speculations about the reincarnation of the Horch brand have been confirmed. Maybach’s Ingolstadt competitor is a reality. It is based on an extended version of the modernized Audi A8 L. However, it has only six cylinders under the hood.

Audi A8 L Horch – 2022 The modern Horch is just a luxury derivative of the revamped Audi A8 L. However, it exceeds it by another 130 mm in length.

The resurrection of the Horch brand, which once belonged to the wings of the Auto Union concern, similarly to Audi, has been speculated about for some time. It made sense. By reincarnating the famous logo, which adorned the luxury pre-war models, Audi has a chance to swim into the waters of the successful Maybach. And that’s what happened. However, Horch first had to wait for the modernization of the A8 flagship. This is where it comes from. It is therefore not a separate brand. Ingolstadt only copied the recipe of rival Maybach, which builds hyper-luxury Mercedes-Benz series derivatives.

That’s why Horch makes no secret of his origins. We find four circles on his mask. But the differences compared to the production Audi A8 are blessed here. Just because the entire body has grown to a length of up to 5,422 mm, which means that the Audi A8 Horch is still 130 mm longer than the extended version of the Audi A8 L. This also applies to the enormous wheelbase of 3,258 mm. The front mask has specific vertical slats. The Horch logo found a place on the front fenders and at the third side window. Dignity is added by Horcha’s chrome applications on the rearview mirror covers, the specific design of the 20-inch wheels and the different light graphics. The back ones have OLED technology.

Audi A8 L Horch – 2022 The interior is intoxicated by a flood of leather, wood or chrome. There is also aroma, top air conditioning, massage seats and a B&O audio system.

Customers will have a choice of three two-color body paint combinations. It is divided by a line passing from the front to the rear lights. We offer Mythos Black with Florett Silver, Florett Silver with Mythos Black and Firmament Blue with Ultra Blue. The interior is literally riddled with luxury. The seats have diamond stitching, the pillows boast the Horch logo and carpeted floors with long hair. Of course, there is an extreme space for rear passengers, who sit in separate seats with eight massage programs.

Audi A8 L Horch – 2022 Compared to the Audi A8 L, the Horch has specific 20-inch wheels. The body can be painted in two colors.

The standard equipment includes Bang & Olufsen audio, aroma cab and top air conditioning with a negative ion air purification system. Under the hood, Horch disappoints slightly. Don’t expect anything like the 12-cylinder and not even the 8-cylinder. In this respect, the top Audi will be pulling for a shorter end in the competition with Maybach. It is powered by a 6-cylinder fork with mild-hybrid technology, which gives a maximum output of 253 kW and a torque of 500 Nm. It is transmitted to all four wheels by an 8-speed automatic transmission.

But if you think that using a relatively fuel-efficient engine is the result of an effort to meet strict European emission standards, you are out. Audi has so far confirmed the sale of Horch exclusively on the Chinese market. That is why it will have its official world premiere at the November Canton Motor Show. We will see if the carmaker will not change its attitude over time. In European territory, Horch could potentially interfere with the Bentley Group. Maybach does not have a similar problem, because the Daimler Group, to which it belongs, does not own a similarly prestigious brand. In the end, Daimler decided at the turn of the millennium to revive Maybach itself.
