Two Mapuches are killed by a bullet in the Cañete area

(Cnn in Spanish) — This Wednesday, the Minister of the Interior and Security of Chile, Rodrigo Delgado Mocarquer, reported the death of two people of the Mapuche ethnic group due to a bullet impact in the Cañete area.

Delgado said that ballistic tests are being carried out in legal medicine to determine if the bullets are from the authorities who were in the region due to heavy clashes that occurred in the area due to blockades that occurred on the P-27 route.

The minister added that the members of the Carabineros and the Navy that were patrolling the area were attacked with high-caliber firearms and that the military authorities used their service weapons to counter the attacks.

Delgado said that it is being investigated if the deceased and the wounded who were registered this Wednesday in Cañete are people who were attacking the authorities or if they were in the area at the time of the confrontation between armed civilians and the Navy and Carabineros.
