The passports of the Slovak delegation at Expo 2020 could be freely downloaded at Uloz.to (+ first statement) – Živé.sk

It is not yet clear who uploaded the sensitive data to the server. They were on the Internet for several days.

An archive with scans of passports of the Slovak delegation at the ongoing Expo 2020 event in Dubai was available for download on the well-known Czech hosting server Uloz.to. On Wednesday evening, the Facebook page Do not feed us with waste pointed this out.

The unencrypted archive contained scans of travel documents of employees of the Ministry of Economy, including Minister Richard Sulík, as well as employees of exhibiting Slovak companies and invited media.

Comments on the web hosting reveal that the archive has been available for at least four days. It is not yet known who recorded it there. In this matter, the Živé.sk editorial staff addressed the Ministry of Economy, which is in charge of Expo 2020.

“We are currently investigating what exactly happened and why this data was published. In the event that we find illegal activity, we will contact the relevant authorities, “said the ministry for Živé.sk.

Information about the leak of passports began to spread via Facebook. It also included sensitive data from one of the members of the Slovak delegation.

We also contacted the government agency SARIO (Slovak Agency for Investment and Trade Development), to which at least several members of the delegation were to send documents for Expo purposes, as confirmed by a source familiar with the organization of the trip itself. The founder of SARIO is the Ministry of Economy.

According to available information, the archive did not include documents of all Slovaks who officially traveled to Dubai under Slovak auspices. The authenticity of the leak was also verified by the editors with one of the members of the expedition, in a way in which a member of the editors did not violate the privacy of the persons concerned, as the archive did not download or forward any personal data.

Other victims are, for example, the chairman of the Bratislava self-governing region Juraj Droba and the deputy for SaS Jozef Viskupič.

The archive was deleted from Uloz.to before 9 pm after the information began to spread rapidly through social networks.
