Germany is witnessing a ” pandemic of unvaccinated and it is huge ”. German Health Minister Jens Spahn said this, hoping that the government will put in place tougher measures to counter the spread of the coronavirus and in particular implement restrictions in public places. “We are currently experiencing mainly an unvaccinated pandemic and it is huge,” Spahn said while meeting with reporters. “In some regions of Germany, ICU beds are running out again,” he added. In the last 24 hours in Germany, 20,398 new infections have been recorded and 194 people have died from complications attributable to Covid-19, according to what was announced by the Robert Koch Institute in charge of monitoring the progress of the pandemic in the country. Over 66 percent of the German population is vaccinated, but what worries Spahn is the fact that a considerable number of people between the ages of 18 and 59 are not. Germany, the most populous country in Europe with around 83 million people, has been grappling with a fourth wave of coronavirus in recent weeks. The seven-day infection rate has reached its highest level since May.
