This is what this year’s Starbucks Christmas mugs look like

New York (CNN Business) – It wouldn’t officially be the holiday season without the festive Starbucks mugs. And this year, they are more festive than ever.

Starting Thursday, customers will receive their hot beverages in one of four new holiday mugs that are “wrapped as holiday gifts,” according to a press release. This year’s designs are inspired by traditional Christmas motifs, including wrapping paper, ribbons in a gift box, Christmas lights, and a candy cane.

“We wanted this holiday to feel magical, we wanted it to be warm and we wanted it to be inclusive,” said Suzie Reecer, Starbucks associate creative director. “Our goal was really to bring joy to all customers and partners.”

New this year is an Almond Milk Latte with a Frosted Sugar Cookie – Starbucks’ first Christmas drink made with non-dairy milk. The drink mixes syrup flavored with sugar cookie, espresso and almond milk, shakes and served over ice. The beverage is a response to the growing popularity of cold beverages, which accounted for 75% of its total beverage sales last quarter.

Traditional drinks are back on the menu as well, including mint mocha, caramel latte, and roasted white chocolate mocha. Starbucks is also adding a reindeer cake and bringing in other treats like a snowman cookie and a Danish plum cake.

The annual celebration has become a tradition for the coffee chain and generates enthusiasm among its loyal customers.

Starbucks first launched seasonal glasses in 1997. The company sparked controversy in 2015 when it dropped the “symbols of the season,” meaning reindeer and ornaments, and opted for a simple two-tone red mug. Since then, she has added more festive flourishes, such as ornaments and mistletoe, to her mugs.

This year, the chain expects to achieve record sales and anticipates that more than $ 3 billion will be added to Starbucks gift cards. “We are ready for this vacation,” CEO Kevin Johnson said in an earnings call last week.
