During the weekend you managed to shoot the premiere hat-trick in the AHL. How was he born?

“I only had one goal in the season until then, I didn’t succeed. At the same time, I had plenty of chances. I was all the more pleased that I managed to score three times for the first time. It was only a matter of time before it started to fall into place. I was finally in the right place at the right time. He is my first senior hat-trick and I believe he is not the last. ”

Last season you circled around the respected goal several times …

“Yes, I had a few matches with two goals. Sometimes you also need luck. Now the coach put me at the end of the match and I could score into an empty goal. I admit that I extended the last substitution before the goal. ”

Probably you were also pleased with the goal of Martin Pospíšil?

“Definitely. The ‘haste’ also had many chances and finally got its first hit of the season. I believe that he will be even more successful. ”

You ended last season in the NHL, where you played for the first time in three Calgary Flames games. Did you have to mentally adjust now that you were only sent to the farm after the camp?

“Unfortunately, that’s the way it goes in hockey life. I am very dissatisfied with my situation. I know I have what it takes to play for the Calgary Flames. The management decided otherwise. I have no choice but to wait, wait for another opportunity and search for a place with my performances. ”

Have you received feedback from coaches after a preseason camp in Calgary, what do you need to improve on?

“We didn’t talk much about it, but the management signed two experienced centers during the summer. There can only be 21 players on the roster, so there was no room for me. Unless someone is hurt. ”

What does your position in Stock look like?

“It’s similar to last year. I play all situations, I have time on the ice between sixteen and twenty minutes. The coach is also satisfied so far. He hopes to be able to lean on me at key moments. ”

You approached the match point on the farm last year, now you hold it. Do you feel that you are outgrowing the AHL?

“I hope so. I believe the chance will come from Calgary. I’m in the AHL for the third season, I’m used to the league. I know what to expect from her, I already know many players of opponents. It also helps that I have the same teammate in formation. I hope that in Flames they see that I already feel comfortable in this league and in time they will call me up. ”

Do you have a greater appetite for hockey when your competition is already played classically and you are not just locked in one division with the same opponents?

“Finally, we play every match against someone else and we do not have one team in five matches in a row. It’s refreshing. Unfortunately, we don’t have a lot of fans going to matches, as we are in a dangerous city and neighborhood, but it’s good for our opponents, most of the duels are sold out. We also have freer travel. It feels like everything is returning to normal. The fact that we were vaccinated also helped. I hope we will no longer have problems for covid. ”

How do you feel that your best friend Martin Fehérváry has already been given more space in the Washington Capitals?

“It makes me very happy. We grew up together and we are not just friends, but almost brothers. I think we both have the NHL. He deserved a place in the Capitals, which he confirms with his performances. I support him, I watch his every match. ”

Do you also take it as motivation?

“It would be great if we played against each other in the NHL. He scored his first goal against Calgary, a pity that I couldn’t be there in the match itself. ”
