The Czech Ministry of Health wants to dispose of tens of thousands of vaccines: But it has a catch, it can’t find them! – Topky.sk

However, most of these vaccines cannot be overseen by the health sector. According to the ministry, it is possible that vaccines are found in individual regions, but it cannot find them in the records.

Vaccines expire

The expiration date will end with 55,000 doses of vaccines from AstraZenca. Rádiožurnál informed about it already in the first half of September and the Ministry of Health confirms this number. Since then, according to data on the resort’s website, health professionals have administered about a thousand doses of this vaccine. 54,000 doses should go to the incinerators.

However, this does not fit the data of the ministry. “We know we will be disposing of about 21,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine. They will be after the expiration date and cannot be used anymore.” confirmed the spokesman of the Ministry of Health Daniel Köppl, adding that another roughly one thousand vaccines will be disposed of by the ministry because the ampoules are damaged in some way.

Where there are more than 30,000 vaccines

However, the ministry does not know where the remaining 30,000 doses expire, which expires the expiration date. They are probably said to be in, for example, general practitioners’ surgeries. However, the ministry does not have them in the records, so without a major audit there is no precise information on where exactly to look for them, the Czech Radio states.

However, the Czech Republic could not donate vaccines before the expiration date. The Ministry of Health has previously told Radiožurnál that the law “does not allow these vaccines to be donated because once they are removed from the controlled distribution chain, they are expected to be used”.

Already in September, they destroyed more than 20,000 doses of vaccine from AstraZenca in the Czech Republic.
