A total of 89,565 positive samples tested by antigen tests were reported at week 43, which is 98.5 percent more than in the previous calendar week.

In virological laboratories since the beginning of the new coronavirus pandemic, a total of 3,929,513 samples of nasopharyngeal swabs were examined by RT-PCR, of which 474,595 were positive. In Slovakia, a total of 39,068,731 antigen tests were also performed, of which 411,901 samples were positive.

Of the total number, in 2021 the highest morbidity was recorded in the age group of 15 to 19 years and 45 to 54 years. Most cases since the beginning of the pandemic were recorded in the Prešov Region and the Žilina Region.

The presence of the new coronavirus was confirmed in 250 wastewater samples, which represents 90.9 percent of the total number of examined samples. TASR was informed about this by the staff of the Department of Surveillance of Infectious Diseases of the Public Health Office (ÚVZ) of the Slovak Republic.

According to them, so far in Slovakia they have taken 285 samples of wastewater, of which 275 samples were laboratory tested for the presence of SARS-CoV-2 virus. They added that the highest proportion of positive of the total number of examined wastewater samples was in Bratislava and the lowest in the Nitra region.
