The first-level warning is valid for some districts of the Banská Bystrica, Žilina and Prešov regions until 3 a.m. on Sunday (October 31). Meteorologists said that while the expected wind speed is common at a given time of year and area, it poses a potential danger to human activities, especially for hiking and climbing.

There is still a warning about the smog situation in the vicinity of Veľká Ida

In the vicinity of the village of Veľká Ida (Košice-okolie district), a warning about the smog situation for PM10 dust particles still applies. The Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute (SHMÚ) draws attention to this on its website.

Meteorologists claim that the smog situation is caused by high emissions of PM10 dust particles from solid fuel heating and industrial sources. “Due to unfavorable dispersal conditions, high concentrations of PM10 can be expected in all areas in the vicinity as well as in neighboring valleys where relevant PM10 sources are located.” added SHMÚ.

The most sensitive population groups for PM10 are the elderly, people with respiratory and cardiovascular diseases, allergy sufferers and asthmatics, very young children and pregnant women. SHMÚ therefore advises to limit the stay and physical activities outside and shorten the ventilation of living rooms.
