Zemmour in Pleurtuit: 700 spectators, 350 counter-demonstrators – Brittany – Le Télégramme

At the invitation of the European association Mémoire du Futur and the Sovereignist Alliance of the Rance Estuary (Aser), Eric Zemmour gathered this Friday more than 700 people at the Delta space in Pleurtuit (35), near Dinard, for a conference that looks like an electoral rally. The polemicist, writer and possible candidate in the 2022 presidential election, in full promotion of his book, “France has not said its last word”, was welcomed in Pleurtuit to the boos of a crowd of about 350 demonstrators hostile to his coming. Several unions, political parties, associations of the department and activists from all sides were present to protest against the arrival of the polemicist and the non-refusal of the mayor of the town. “Brittany open and united”, “More love less Zemmour”, could be read on their signs and many police forces were deployed to frame the procession.

If the organizers defend themselves from any “political, ideological or militant” aim, local elected officials, associations, unions and anti-fascist organizations have protested in recent days against this “disguised meeting”.

Éric Zemmour arrived on stage under heavy applause, before answering questions from historian and writer Reynald Secher, who brought him to Pleurtuit. “I am not surprised by this warm welcome,” said the former columnist of “We are not lying” and “CNews”, who spoke about heritage and culture.

“French monuments belong as much to those who own them as to those who admire them”. The polemicist wants to save the “beautiful French, our heritage rooted in Christianity and put our architectural tradition in the foreground”. He also wants “to take control of the Ministry of Culture and cut short the American steamroller.” When we see the horrors that are exhibited at the Palace of Versailles, we must stop speculating about contemporary art that has become ridiculous ”.

Through a well-crafted speech, Zemmour also distilled the critics. Against globalization, against the political class of the left, as of the right. Without necessarily convincing. But no matter: the majority of those present were already won over. All that was missing was an official announcement of the presidential candidacy. But it won’t be long, no doubt.
