Cévennes episode: 4 departments of the South-East in orange vigilance – LCI

After a week of very good weather, the rain is back, and sometimes heavily, for example in the south. Météo-France announced this Saturday that the departments of Ardèche (07), of Gard (30) and of the Lozère (48) and the Var (83) were placed in orange rain-flood vigilance, the first two cities being also affected by a flood warning.

On the Cévennes, where it has already fallen up to 200mm on Mont Aigoual and in Vialas (48), “It is the duration of the sustained rains as well as their punctual intensity that this event requires special vigilance”, warns Météo-France. FromFrom the middle of the afternoon, the rains weaken, even if a temporarily more sustained activity remains possible. Cumulative since the start of the episode and until the middle of the night from Saturday to Sunday, the precipitation should be of the order of 200 to 250 mm on the relief, occasionally 300 to 350 mm.

As for the Var, it is a “localized rainstorm situation requiring particular vigilance in view of its intensity and the challenges in the affected area “ which is worth to the department to be placed in orange. The showers coming from the sea become more numerous and intensify in the morning.
