The disciplinary commission of the Slovak Football Association (DK SFZ) decided on Thursday on sanctions for Trnava and Slovan Bratislava due to incidents during the unfinished league derby. The reigning master accepts only one of the three points of the decision.

ŠK Slovan Bratislava
– a financial fine of € 20,000
– a ban on fans going to the next 4 outdoor matches
– a ban on fans going to derby matches in Trnava until the end of the competition year of the 2021/22 season

FC Spartak Trnava
– a financial fine of € 35,000
– play 3 home meetings without the presence of spectators (only children under 15)
– a ban on Spartak fans traveling to derby matches in Bratislava until the end of the competition year of the 2021/22 season

“We respect and accept punishment in the form of a ban on our fans traveling to the next 4 external matches. However, we consider the remaining two sentences to be disproportionate and inadequate, “says Slovan in the opinion.

“The amount of financial penalties does not reflect who was the organizer of the match. ŠK Slovan was a away team in the derby. From our point of view, the difference in the financial fine between the organizer (FC Spartak Trnava) and the visiting team is negligible.

DK SFZ did not take into account the fact that FC Spartak Trnava in the past was able to organize not only a number of derbies, but also much riskier matches with clubs such as Legia Warsaw or Crvena star Belgrade. This fact clearly proves that the organizer failed to the fullest, underestimated the very organization of the match and the level of security measures, “he adds.

The club states that it will wait for a written justification of the decision and forward it to the law firm for assessment: “It is very likely that our club will file an appeal against the decision of DK SFZ.”

“We do not agree with the ban on guest fans participating in the derby until the end of the season. It is not the right tool. The derby also includes the atmosphere that both fan camps will contribute to. This ban carries an increased risk for the organizer, for example, when fans of the guests can buy tickets to the home sectors, which can cause further unwanted incidents directly at the stadium.

Solutions must certainly be sought in the area of match organization and security measures. The way, for example, can be to use biometric data, because we are not talking about thousands of problematic people, but about a small group of people.

Even in the case of our fans in Trnava, it is true that the vast majority of them came to support the Slavs and did not commit illegal actions, and I stand behind them. The problem is not the majority in our case or in other clubs, but the minority. “
