Afghanistan, former US military returns and saves his family from the Taliban

A former US soldier, a veteran of the war in Afghanistan, has returned to the country to save about thirty people at risk, including Christians and members of his family. He told Fox News himself, reporting that he entered Afghanistan via Pakistan and was stopped and whipped by the Taliban during one of the rescue operations. The relatives of the former soldier, who is of Afghan origin, hid near Kabul fearing they would be killed for their family ties. These people would now be in a neighboring country, from which, however, they will have to find another way of escape, in order not to risk being repatriated to Afghanistan. “On the news they say that there are no US troops in Afghanistan, but here I am, I will give the my help as long as it is needed, “the former sergeant told Fox News, who protected his identity by hiding his face. “I am proud to be an American soldier. I took an oath and I will never forget it,” added the former soldier, who after serving in the war in Afghanistan was discharged due to his injuries. The former military man claims to have, among other things, rescued a family of 10 people, all Catholic, as well as other Afghans belonging to the Hazara minority, all at risk of being captured by the Taliban. Among those rescued was a couple who had recently converted to Catholicism and who “were in danger because of their religion”. The couple, in particular, were brought out of Afghanistan across the border with Pakistan. It was then that the former soldier was intercepted and whipped by a Taliban patrol. “But it would have been much worse if they had known that I had just helped some Catholics escape,” he said.
