SOUL / PCHJONGJANG. North Korean leader Kim Jong-un he has recently lost about 20 kilograms, but he is healthy and is trying to strengthen public loyalty to the DPRK’s worsening economic problems.

This follows from the non-public report of the South Korean National Intelligence Service (NIS). The AP agency informed about it.

The NIS provided an assessment of the health of the North Korean leader during a parliamentary briefing behind closed doors. This was told to the AP agency by two legislators who attended a closed session.

The South Korean secret service allegedly stated that it used computer-aided intelligence to assess Kim Jong-un’s condition. Among other methods, she analyzed Kim on high-definition videos.

The AP recalled that Kim’s health has been the focus of “keen attention” in recent months, as he “appeared significantly poorer” in official photos and videos from North Korean state media.

The leader of the communist regime does not speak publicly about his potential successor, and therefore some experts argue that a sudden inability to hold office could trigger chaos in a poor country.

One South Korean tabloid even reported that Kim was using a poorer double. However, the NIS rejected the report as unfounded, one of the participants in a closed meeting told the AP.

He specified that the intelligence showed that Kim Jong-un had previously weighed about 140 kilograms. It now weighs about 120 kg. According to the NIS, the North Korean leader is about 170 centimeters tall.

Kim Jong-un has been in power since 2012. According to the South Korean secret service, he is probably experiencing the most difficult period of his rule due to the economic difficulties of the DPRK, which was further exacerbated by the pandemic coronavirus.

North Korea has not yet confirmed any cases of the disease. The NIS disputes this, but added that it had not seen signs of a “major outbreak” of the pandemic in the isolated country.
