Slovenská pošta will conclude cooperation with Aliexpress and Wish. Slovaks will lose all customs duties – FonTech

Shopping from China has been significantly complicated since the beginning of July this year by new legislation, due to which Slovaks are also obliged to pay VAT for all goods purchased from countries outside the European Union.

Customs duties have become a problem even with such a purchase on the popular Aliexpress. However, this obstacle is planned to be solved by Slovenská pošta, which is preparing cooperation with this largest Chinese e-shop and also Wish, the portal informed in an interview. životní.sk.

Shopping from abroad has changed significantly

From 1 July, new rules apply when shopping from abroad outside the EU member states. After the new one, Slovaks must also pay VAT on goods up to € 22. These changes in the law were taken over by the government from European directive. All consignments will thus have to go through a customs procedure, while the customs declaration must be submitted electronically.

However, if the customer does not want to clear the goods himself, he can use representation. However, Slovenská pošta made this process more expensive, even if the customer decides to handle the customs procedure himself. The post office claims a fee of several euros. Slovenská pošta will start cooperating with Aliexpress and Wish

The complicated customs procedure was resolved some time ago by Česká pošta, which started cooperating with the most popular Chinese e-shops. Last autumn, Česká pošta confirmed its cooperation with Aliexpress for faster delivery of orders.

After July 1, when the new legislation came into force in the Czech Republic, the local post office announced cooperation with Aliexpress and Wish, thanks to which shoppers will not have to tax the goods, everything will be provided by the post office and the online store. As a result, shipments will be released for free circulation in the EU in advance and their delivery will be accelerated.

Recently, Slovenská pošta is also preparing such a step, which, according to the statement of the general director Martin Ľupták, in an interview for životní.sk will join the Czech Post and start cooperating with Aliexpress and Wish.

“Yes, large e-shops have this option. Therefore, we have taken steps to join the Czech Post contract with AliExpress and Wish. The agreement is being finalized. We plan to take effect from mid-November. ” Ľupták said in an interview for životní.sk.

According to our information, Slovenská pošta did so a year ago did not consider working with Aliexpress. The situation is now changing and Slovaks will no longer have to undergo customs procedures or pay additional fees when purchasing goods outside the EU upon delivery.

Everything will be handled by the store itself and Slovenská pošta. The shipment thus comes customs-cleared to the customer and at the same time the duration of delivery should be shortened. However, this does not mean lower prices of goods, because the customer will feel the customs clearance of goods and payment of VAT in one way or another, even with the cheapest goods.

Goods from the EU will come faster. Aliexpress will open a warehouse in Poland

In the case of shipments when purchased in foreign e-shops, which send orders from EU warehouses, nothing changes. As before, the goods will be released for free circulation and delivered to the customer without customs clearance. At the same time, Aliexpress plans to open a new warehouse for Slovaks in neighboring Poland, from where it will send a large amount of stored goods.

According to Diary E, who quoted a report by ČTK, this Polish warehouse of Aliexpress in the city of Łódž will start operating on November 11, and customers will be able to have the shipment delivered from this warehouse when choosing goods. It is the first AliExpress center in Central and Eastern Europe. He should deliver the goods to Slovakia within 3 days, within Poland it is supposed to be 24 hours earlier.
