The new Sensify braking system can regulate the braking force on each wheel separately. Although it uses hydraulics, these are fully electronic brakes without a mechanical connection to the brake pedal.

The new Sensify brake system classifies Brembo as the greatest progress since the late 1970s, when the ABS anti-lock brake system was born. This is because it deprives conventional brakes of the direct connection between the brake pedal and the brakes themselves. The brake pedal only commands the control unit. There are actually two – each for one of the axles, each regulating the brake pressure individually for the right and left wheel. Although the brake pads are pressed against the discs by the force of hydraulics, this is no longer generated by the classic brake cylinder, but by the electronic actuator. The brakes designed in this way can take into account many more parameters that affect the operation and effect of the brakes based on instantaneous conditions.

The Sensify control unit takes into account, for example, the type of road surface, the weight of the vehicle, the instantaneous axle load, speed or steering wheel rotation. All the more precisely, the brakes can dose the braking torque, completely independently for each of the wheels. At the same time, other brake functions such as stabilization, anti-lock and anti-slip systems or traction improvement systems can be easily integrated into the Sensify system. Electronic brakes will also be better understood with assistance systems. The result should be a shorter braking distance, faster reactions, the same braking effect when the vehicle is unoccupied or fully occupied and loaded.
