The brand new Range Rover is here. It has up to 5 displays, a clean design and a 530-horsepower eight-cylinder from BMW – REFRESHER

The ceremonial debut of the brand’s biggest novelty was planned for the end of October Land Rover this year. It is nothing but brand new, the 5th generation of the British brand’s pride, the most luxurious Range Rover. At first glance, it might seem that there is only a facelift in the case, but the opposite is true.

The latest sequel to the iconic SUV is new to the floor, but the aesthetic design is really more of an evolution of its predecessor. The characteristic silhouette and shape of the body do not change, but we are witnessing even smoother, literally clean shapes, which are subject to aerodynamics – the coefficient of aerodynamic air resistance is only 0.30. This is due not only to more rounded edges, but also recessed handles.

The front full-LED headlights have been given a more angular shape, while the bumper itself looks more elegant and simpler. From the side, the traditional decorative element behind the front wheel is more interesting in a more modern interpretation, while the individual roof pillars are still black.

There will, of course, be several multi-colored roof configurations. The biggest changes took place at the back, where they found a place with very narrow vertical lights in a somewhat inconspicuous form. The trunk lid is still in two parts.

The luxurious interior underwent a more fundamental change, which in the front part built on the protruding, up to 13.1 “touch screen of the Pivi Pro infotainment. It is the largest central display ever used by the carmaker. Interestingly, it has already disappeared and been replaced by a physical solution with small interactive areas. In front of the driver, there are finally digital alarm clocks, which are up to 13.7 “.

To make matters worse, the other two 11.4 “monitors can be fitted to the rear for the rear passengers. But that’s not the end of it, because in the Executive Class configuration, which includes two rear separate seats, there is another 8” touch screen in the middle. . As before, the new Range Rover is no exception and offers two body sizes – 5,052 or up to 5,252 millimeters. The 20-centimeter-extended variant is therefore again intended to guarantee maximum luxury, comfort and convenience for the rear passengers.

Right at the beginning, the carmaker serves us a truly unprecedented range of power units, which wants to include a wide target group. Except for the top V8, each engine is more or less electrified, thankfully, smaller than a six-cylinder unit do not wait. All versions are fitted as standard with both axle drive and an 8-speed automatic transmission from ZF, which is complemented by a two-speed reduction. According to the new designation, these are therefore specific versions:

  • D250 – 3-liter diesel six-cylinder, mild hybrid, 183 kW / 250 hp
  • D300 – 3-liter diesel six-cylinder, mild hybrid, 221 kW / 300 hp
  • D350 – 3-liter diesel six-cylinder, mild hybrid, 257 kW / 350 hp
  • P360 – 3-liter six-cylinder petrol engine, mild hybrid, 265 kW / 360 hp
  • P400 – 3-liter petrol six-cylinder, mild hybrid, 294 kW / 400 hp
  • P440e – 3-liter petrol six-cylinder, plug-in hybrid, 324 kW / 440 hp
  • P510e – 3-liter six-cylinder petrol engine, plug-in hybrid, 375 kW / 510 hp
  • P530 – 4.4-liter eight-cylinder petrol engine, 390 kW / 530 hp

All units, except for the latter, were created in-house, but the top variant of the P530 boasts a twice-supercharged eight-cylinder from the BMW workshop. It replaces the existing five-liter supercharged compressor, which has already been too short for the strict emission limits.

The plug-in hybrid variants received an electric motor with an output of 105 kW / 143 hp, the energy source of which is a battery with a usable capacity of less than 32 kWh. Under ideal conditions, the hybrid technology is to guarantee a purely electric range of up to 100 kilometers. In 2024, there will even be a sovereign electric variant.

The presence of a completely new MLA-Flex architecture guaranteed not only the efficient storage of batteries in the floor, but also the installation of more modern components. The big news is the fact that the Range Rover acquires for the first time the already supplied system of turning the rear wheels, while their deflection is at an angle of up to 7.3 °. An optional multi-chamber air suspension must also be an option.
