The 48-year-old official ended up in positions for a case investigating a former Chicago coach of sexual harassment of two players in 2010.
The interim general manager of the Blackhawks will be Kyle Davidson, and no one from the incriminated period remains in the leadership of the organization. The NHL leadership also fined “hawks” a $ 2 million fine.
Shortly after the end, he also announced his resignation from the USA team at the Chicago organization, just 100 days before the start of the Olympic Games.
“In light of what happened today, I think it is in the best interests of the US Hockey Federation to resign,” said Scotty Bowman, the son of legendary coach and Siena member of the Hall of Fame, in a statement.
As head coach, he won nine Stanley Cups, an NHL record. He fought five with the Montreal Canadiens (1973, 1976, 1977, 1978, 1979), one with the Pittsburgh Penguins (1992) and three with the Detroit Red Wings (1997, 1998, 2002). He won another five titles as an official.
Stan Bowman has been in Chicago for two decades, helping him win three Stanley Cups in a successful era from 2010 to 2015.
He has held the position of general manager since 2009, and last December he was promoted to the position of president of hockey operations. The chief investigator of the sexual harassment case accused Bowman of failing to report the act, which led to further sexual harassment.
The investigation into the case began in August, with allegations facing former coach Bradley Aldrich, who was to sexually harass a Blackhawks player during the Stanley Cup battle and one student in Michigan.

According to the harassment file, then-club president John McDonough, Stan Bowman, assistant general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff, executive vice president Jay Blunk, mental coach Jim Gary, director of administration Al MacIsaac and head coach Joel Quenneville knew. The TSN portal informed about it.
Bowman said he immediately reported the matter to the then president and chief executive, who pledged to resolve the matter when he was alerted to potentially inappropriate behavior. The former general manager “relied on the instructions of his order and that he would take appropriate action.”
Bowman further said that only this year did he learn that these were serious allegations of sexual assault.
“Looking back and knowing that he has not resolved the matter, I regret that I expected him to do so,” the DPA was quoted as saying.
In response to the findings, NHL management fined Chicago $ 2 million for inadequate internal procedures of the organization and inadequate response to the incident.
“The fine is a direct and necessary response to the club’s failure to address the 2010 incident,” said Gary Bettman. The NHL commissioner also stressed that all four club officials at the time who are no longer in the NHL, as well as Bowman and MacIsaac, must meet with him before accepting any further offer from profiligy teams.
Bettman also plans to meet with current Florida coach Quenneville and Winnipeg Jets general manager Jets Cheveldayoff, after which he will decide on possible sanctions.
The club also apologized for the mistake:
“We deeply regret the damage caused to the player and others, as well as the inability to react immediately. We deeply apologize to individuals who have suffered these acts, “the letter said.

The club did not name the player who was the first to go to court. MacIsaac also resigned from the club on Tuesday, the current vice president of hockey operations worked in 2010 as director of administration and also knew about the incident.
Aldrich left the team on June 14, 2010 without further investigation. Three years later, he confessed in another case of sexual harassment to a high school hockey player, who later also sued Chicago for failing to act against his former coach.
Aldrich spent nine months in this case, reports the AP agency.
