The Italian Musher Sleddog Sport Federation – FIMSS was established on May 18, 2003 in Lugana di Sirmione (BS) and today the FIMSS holds the accreditations of the International Federation of Sleddog Sport – IFSS (obtained in 2004 during the Warsaw Congress), of the Federation Internationale Sportive de Traineau in Chiens – FISTC (obtained in 2005 during the General Assembly of Louvain) and of the European Sled Dog Racing Association – ESDRA (obtained in 2005 at the General Assembly in Budapest). The initiative took place in the presence of the President of the Sporting Club Monterosa Novara, notary Claudio Limontini, and of the President of the Italian Musher Sleddog Sport Federation -FIMSS, Dr. Massimo Bassan, and selected athletes took part, including some members of the Team National team that were able to test the structure as it was a candidate for events such as World Championships and European Specialty Championships.
