Motorboating offshore world championship, Cagliari warms up the engines

Less than a week from the start, Cagliari warms up the engines for the Fim Sardinia Grand Prix of motor boating. From Wednesday 22 to Sunday 26 September, in front of one of the most iconic places of Cagliari tourism, the Poetto beach, the offshore racing cars will compete for 3 crowns: starting from the most important, the one for the Uim Class World Championship 3D, with a contour represented by the Italian FIM Offshore 5000 & Honda Offshore Championship and the Italian FIM Formula Junior Elite Championship, as well as an international Pleasure Navigation competition. All organized by the Italian Motorboat Federation and its delegate Assoservices Association. The moments to be fixed on the calendar for the UIM 3D World Championship are these: Thursday 23 in the water for free practice at 10.30 to 12.30 and then from 15.30 for Race-1 (13 laps on the short circuit of 43.93 nautical miles, or 81.3 km), Friday 24 free practice at 11 and Race-2 (18 laps on the long 61.48 mm circuit, 113.8 km) at 15.30, free Saturday again at 11.30 and finally Sunday free at 10.30 and the decisive Race-3 (short circuit) at 15.30. During the last 30 minutes of practice on Thursday 23, the times for the composition of the starting grid for Race-1 will be taken. The order of arrival of this will instead determine the grid of Race-2, while for Race-3 the starting order will be given by the inverted order of arrival of the previous one. The title of world champion will obviously be awarded through the sum of the scores of the 3 races. From today work has begun to make the Marina Piccola touristic port the paddock of the FIM Sardinia Grand Prix: a wonderful location that will be possible to observe from a few meters away that separate it from the beach and the promenade. From Wednesday the paddock will become operational with the arrival of the riders and the first briefings. And given the huge amount of people it will host, including pilots and staff, the FIM has placed very strict rules on the entire area for respect for the environment: it was decided to pay particular attention to the waste cycle and therefore each team will have in its owner responsible for the behavior of all others. There will be very high fines (up to 500 euros) for those who leave abandoned plastic objects and for those who do not use the various dedicated containers correctly, an aspect that will particularly please the Tourism Department of the Sardinia Region and in particular the owner Gianni Chessa, who strongly wanted this event. The tourism and culture of Cagliari and Sardinia will in fact be a constant presence throughout the week of the FIM Sardinia Grand Prix. A bond on which the Italian Motorboat Federation of President Vincenzo Iaconianni is focusing a lot, also considering the presence in Olbia from 17 to 19 September with the Aquabike World Championship. Sardinia Region in the front row also for the vernissage of the FIM Sardinia Grand Prix, which will be officially presented on Friday evening at the Palazzo dell’Assessorato al Turismo. With a great preview, the presentation of the new FIM project: the “SuperBoat”.
