Atletico Madrid champions of Spain: the colchoneros beat Valladolid away 2-1 and won the La Liga title. Atletico had to win the final matchday of the season to ensure they finish ahead of city rivals Real Madrid, who in turn won 2-1 against Villarreal. Valladolid took the lead in the first half with Oscar Plano, but goals from Angel Correa and Suarez, the team’s top scorer with 21 goals in La Liga, in the second half secured Diego Simeone’s side victory and the title.
