Lorenzo Fortunato from Bologna, in his first victory as a professional, is the king of Monte Zoncolan on the Kaiser side. The Eolo Kometa cyclist off the Slovenian Jan Tratnik (Bahrain Victorius), breaking the pair that immediately dominated the tremendous slopes of the last kilometers, with peaks of 27% and an average of 13%. The last time in a Giro to win on the Zoncolan was Chris Froome in 2018. Today’s stage was 205 km starting from Cittadella and 3,700 meters in altitude. The pink jersey still remains on Egan Bernal’s shoulders. Third at the finish was another Italian, Alessandro Covi (UAE Team Emirates) 59 seconds after Fortunato, fourth was the race and team leader Ineos Bernal. The Colombian is increasingly the master of the Giro: he earned 11 “over Yates, 39″ over Ciccone and Caruso, 46 ”over Buchmann, 54” over Carthy, 1’12 “over Vlasov and 1’30” over Evenepoel, once again in difficulty on the slopes after suffering the pains of hell on the Tuscan dirt road of the stage ended in Montalcino.
