Reigning champion Novak Djokovic advances smoothly to the 3rd round of the men’s singles draw at Wimbledon 2022, the third Grand Slam event of the season, taking place on the grass pitches of the All England Club. The Serbian, world number 3 and first seed, overtakes the Australian Thanasi Kokkinakis, number 79 in the ATP ranking, with a score of 6-1, 6-4, 6-2 in just over two hours. On the third day of the tournament the exploit of Ugo Humbert stands out. Before the second round match at Wimbledon against Casper Ruud, world number 6 and third seed, the Frenchman, number 112 in the ATP ranking, enters the field with the bag, but when he opens it, he realizes that he has no himself the rackets. Asked for the intervention of the supervisor, the rackets arrive regularly after a few minutes of waiting, to the applause of the audience. The match begins and Humbert surprisingly wins it in 4 sets, for 3-6, 6-2, 7-5, 6-4 in two hours and 40 minutes. In the women’s draw, Anett Kontaveit leaves the scene in the second round. The Estonian, number 3 in the world and second seed, yields to the German Jule Niemeier, number 97 in the WTA ranking, with a score of 6-4, 6-0 in just under an hour.
