Sport and disability, Italian Naval League with Cimmino in the Ostia-Torvaianica crossing

The press conference for the presentation of the Ostia Lido-Torvaianica stage of the “Giro of Italy swimming 2021, for the rights of people with disabilities “which sees the swimmer with disabilities Salvatore Cimmino as the protagonist. The 7th stage of Cimmino – 56 years old and originally from Torre Annunziata (Naples), but Roman by adoption – will start from the beach of the Ostia Section of the LNI Lido at 11:00 on Saturday 17 July 2021, to swim around 18 km away to the beach of Torvaianica, constantly followed and assisted, among others, by LNI personnel and vehicles. The Italian Naval League is alongside the athlete who actively supports at sea and on land together with other institutions and associations for this competitive enterprise (19 stages until next 9 October for a total of 413 kilometers along the coasts of all Italian regions) and confirms its commitment in the field of disability, always striving for the development and dissemination of the seafaring culture without barriers. The LNI represents the opportunity to experience the sea at 360 degrees, open to all: young people, adults of all ages, but with a particular reference to the support of the use of the sea by the less well-off social categories and people with disabilities.
