Euro 2020, GB government to English fans: “Don’t go to Rome”

“Don’t go to Rome”. This is the appeal made by the British government to English fans in view of Saturday’s match at the Olympic stadium in Rome between England and Ukraine, valid for the quarter-finals of Euro 2020. The fears are obviously linked to the spread of the delta variant of the covid . Those arriving in Italy from the UK must observe a 5-day quarantine. The match of the Europeans is only scheduled in four days. Speaking to Sky News, Undersecretary Anne-Marie Trevelyan then invites the English fans to “watch the game from home and cheer for the national team as loud as possible”. “Obviously it’s very hard not to smile to see all those wonderful flags waving, it makes you so proud that our team did so well last night,” he adds referring to the match they won against Germany. “But in reality – he repeats – the request is to watch the next match from home. I think the challenge is to make us feel all the way to Rome. And I am sure that we will take this opportunity to better support our fantastic English national team”.
