F1 2022, Hamilton restarts: “Never talked about retirement”

Lewis Hamilton is ready to take to the track of the 2022 Formula 1 World Championship to take back the title after the disappointment of last year. The Englishman, beaten in the photo finish by Max Verstappen in the 2021 World Cup, denies the rumors of retirement. “I never said I would stop,” said 37-year-old Hamilton at the launch of the team’s new Mercedes W13 car, adding that it was a “privilege” to work with the team. “Obviously it was a difficult time for me, I had to take a step back and focus on being present with my family around me,” he said referring to the silence and pause for reflection after the last 2021 race. Mercedes will be looking to win the ninth consecutive constructors’ championship. The next season, however, will be characterized by new rules aimed at making the circus more balanced. “We hope to go on the hunt for another title,” said team principal Toto Wolff. Mercedes unveiled the car at Silverstone with a return to the traditional silver color after adopting black in the past two seasons.
