Leon Goretzka scored twice. The Germany midfielder scored the decisive 2-2 goal in yesterday’s match against Hungary at the Allianz Arena in Munich. The Bayern Munich player’s goal allowed the German national team to qualify for the round of 16 of the tournament and, at the same time, eliminated the Hungarian selection. Today, Goretzka also finds himself a protagonist on social networks for the exultation after the goal: a heart created with his hands and aimed precisely at the Hungarian fans, some of whom have not spared homophobic insults to the German players. Goretzka’s gesture, which gives the player a place among Twitter trends, took on particular significance on the evening when the Alianz Arena was supposed to be illuminated with the colors of the rainbow, in support of the fight against homophobia and defense of LGBT rights. Uefa, as is well known, has not granted the authorization. The challenge against Hungary went on a dramatic day when Viktor Orban’s government passed new laws against the dissemination of content that could affect minors by ‘promoting’ homosexuality or sex change.
