“The bike is the land boat and the boat is the sea bike”: this must have been thought by the organizers of the “Giro dei Venti”, the first international sports competition that combines racing bikes and sailing boats in teams. The original competition, announced last September, will be presented in detail on February 3rd with all the details of the case. However, the regulation is already on the site and provides for participation in stages, three by bike and two by sailboat, between Puglia and the Greek island of Corfu in 5 days from 27 June to 1 July 2022. The departure of the first stage and the arrival of the last one is in Santa Maria di Leuca in the province of Lecce. The arrival of the second and third stages is in the marina of Gouvia on the island of Corfu. The idea comes from the Milan-Apulian Workness, a meeting point of psychophysical well-being and work together conceived by Sergio Filograna, patron of the high-end footwear house Leo Shoes in Casarano in Salento. “The Giro Dei Venti – explains Filogran – was born as an ideal continuation of the wellness experience that can be lived in Workness, an initiative that focuses on sport as a health facilitator, but which at the same time wants to tell history and culture of a precious territory, Puglia, one of the many Italian jewels that the whole world envies us. With this initiative, which has already received a lot of support both from the local communities involved and from the companies that have chosen to join as sponsors, we want to create strong synergies with local institutions and entrepreneurs to ensure that Il Giro dei Venti becomes a recurring appointment, a real showcase to show at an international level all that our land is able to offer “. For now it is possible to study the various stages: we leave by bike on June 27, from Santa Maria di Leuca and return via Otranto; the day after regatta between the heel of Italy and Corfu; on the Greek island another circular stage by bike; on June 30 new regatta from Corfu to Leuca; on July 1st, last day, another bike ride from Leuca to Gallipoli and back. “Teams made up of two participants who are cyclists friends or two participants who are friends of sailors equipped with a pleasure boat complete with cruise interiors, equipped with an auxiliary engine and equipped with furling furling jib including between 37 feet and 45 feet” can participate. feet”. Bikes must be racing bikes, time trial bikes are not allowed; at each stage finish a score of 10 points will be assigned to the first classified, 20 to the second, 30 to the third and so on. In regattas, the score will be unique for the whole crew; in cycling races the score will be obtained from the sum of the scores of the 2 cyclists according to their individual finish; The ranking will be drawn up by adding up the scores of all the stages and the crew with the lowest score will win. The first crew will be awarded 4 electric cars, the second with 4 electric Vespa scooters, the third with 4 electric bicycles.
