Terrorism, Giannini: “ Since 2015, more than 550 dangerous people have been expelled ”

” After the terrorist attacks in Nice and Berlin we had to completely revolutionize our approach to the phenomenon. We had to anticipate, perhaps give up something in terms of process and in terms of punishment, because we came to be aware of the extreme danger of the subjects but still did not have the legal configuration of an attempted crime that was punishable. An enormous imminent danger and the lack of a chance to act. Many of these subjects were not Italian citizens and therefore with provisions of the minister or the prefect or the judicial authority we have provided for the expulsion from the national territory. More than 550 people have been deported since 2015 ”. This was stated by the Chief of Police, Lamberto Giannini, at the inauguration of the Degree Course in Legal Services for Security of the Roma Tre University at the Ostia Campus. ” To do this – explained Giannini – a declination of security is necessary which requires the involvement not only of the police forces but of all civil society ‘. Giannini then underlined that “we must always be ready to operate also from a legislative point of view, with particular attention from the legislator to fields of our society that change rather rapidly”.
