False financial statements, mayor of Palermo Orlando and 23 others under investigation

The Public Prosecutor of Palermo has entered the mayor Leoluca Orlando and 23 other people, including former councilors and managers, accused of false material in public deed in the register of suspects. They all received a notice of termination of the investigation. According to the reconstruction of the magistrates, as the Live Sicilia and Repubblica Palermo sites write, the numbers of entries and exits included in the budgets of the years 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 are false. At the moment, no comment has arrived from the mayor. The irregularities concern some sectors such as the building amnesty office to that of taxes, from capital resources to housing policies. “The public officials signed and sent to the General Accounting Office some overestimated revenue forecast forms (taking into account the data – known to them – of the actual assessments of revenue in previous years (…) thus misleading the municipal council of Palermo on the truth of the act, determining it to adopt the resolution with which the budget was approved “, writes the Prosecutor. Here are the suspects: Luciano Abbonato, Lucetta Accordino, Carmela Agnello, Cosimo Aiello, Marcello Barbaro, Bohuslav Basile, Leonardo Brucato, Roberto D’Agostino, Paola Di Trapani, Salvatore Di Trapani, Giovanni Carlo Galvano, Antonino Gentile, Mario Li Castri, Gabriele Marchese, Marco Mazzurco, Vincenzo Messina, Antonino Mineo, Luigi Mortillaro, Leoluca Orlando, Sebastiano Orlando, Sergio Pollicita, Paolo Porretto, Stefano Puleo and Daniela Rimedio.
