Angelo Licheri died at the age of 77 and tried to save Alfredino

Angelo Licheri, the man who descended into the well of Vermicino to try to save Alfredino Rampi, died at the age of 77 in a retirement home in Nettuno near Rome. Licheri was a volunteer and went to Vermicino after learning of the tragedy. The night between Friday 12th and Saturday 13th June 1981 fell upside down: Alfredino had fallen on the evening of 10th June. He also spoke to the child and stayed in the well for 45 minutes. “He was a symbol, a pure volunteer”.
