Theft in Pompeii, a marble from the Domus of Sirico stolen

The carabinieri of Pompeii are investigating the theft of a marble manhole cover removed from the Domus of Sirico within the archaeological area. The discovery was made by the staff of the Superintendence. The marble manhole cover, circular in shape and 20 centimeters in diameter, was allegedly removed between 30 September and 4 October. The Domus di Sirico, located in the Regio VII, is in an area that is accessible to the public and has recently undergone restoration work.
