Half of the 2021 Nobel Prize in Physics was awarded to the Italian Giorgio Parisi for “the discovery of the interaction between disorder and fluctuations in physical systems from the atomic scale to the planetary scale”. The announcement was made as usual by the Nobel Assembly at the Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm in Sweden. Parisi is president of the class of Physical, Mathematical and Natural Sciences of the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei and full professor of Theoretical Physics at Sapienza in Rome.
