A provocative response to the cover of the Espresso which portrays a transsexual who has become a man with a big belly. The June issue of the sovereign monthly Il Primato Nazionale portrays a pregnant woman on whose belly the same writing is imprinted with the same characters on the cover of the weekly, but which now acquires a diametrically different meaning: “Diversity is wealth”. An analogous style, therefore, but with the exact opposite intention. “The symbolic impact of that Espresso cover – writes the director Adriano Scianca – with respect to the imaginary and feminine sensibility, appears devastating. If everything is a woman, nothing is a woman. The woman does not exist, she is a ‘ illusion, a mirage “. And, in that context, the words “Diversity is wealth” for Scianca is “a slap in the face of logic and a mockery, given that the message sent was exactly the opposite: no diversity and no wealth, just a fluid meal. and undifferentiated in which everyone can be everything “. “True diversity and true wealth – concludes Scianca – is, if anything, that of men and women who return to look each other in the eyes, which reflect each other in the splendidly different bodies of the others”. The issue, which will be on newsstands on 7 June, is already available on the digital newsstand of the Primato.
