Prof murdered, Cassation: encore appeal for comrade on aggravating futile reasons

There will be a new Appeal trial for the murder of Michela Di Pompeo, the Deutsche Schule professor killed on May 1, 2017 by her partner Francesco Carrieri with a gym weight in the apartment in via del Babbuino in Rome. This was decided by the judges of the First Criminal Section of the Cassation who annulled the contested sentence in relation to the aggravating circumstance of the futile reasons. The judgment will therefore have to be renewed on this point by another section of the Court of Assizes of Appeal of the capital. The appeal was filed against the sentence of 28 November 2019, which had almost halved the sentence imposed in the first instance on 8 October 2018, recognizing the defendant as being partially insane and reducing the sentence from thirty to sixteen years of imprisonment.
