Finnegan Lee Elder and Christian Gabriel Natale Hjorth sentenced to life imprisonment in the trial for the murder of Mario Cerciello Rega. This is what the judges of the first court of assizes of Rome, chaired by Marina Finiti, decided in the trial on the murder of the deputy police sergeant killed with eleven stab wounds on July 26, 2019. The sentence came after more than thirteen hours in the chamber of advice. For the two defendants, accused of complicity in murder, the prosecutor Maria Sabina Calabretta had asked for a life sentence. In the bunker room of Rebibbia, the family members of the deputy brigadier and the widow Rosa Maria Esilio are present when reading the device. Rosa Maria Esilio, widow of Mario Cerciello Rega, burst into tears at the reading of the sentence. The woman, who was present at all the hearings of the trial, after reading the device, hugged her lawyer and her husband’s family crying.
