Pope Francis in Budapest, 34th international trip to start

The Pope’s 34th international apostolic journey began this morning when he went to Budapest for the conclusion of the 52nd International Eucharistic Congress and to Slovakia. After leaving Casa Santa Marta, the Pontiff moved by car to the Rome-Fiumicino International Airport from where, at 6 am, on board an Alitalia A320, he left for Budapest. Arrival at Budapest International Airport at 7.45am. The Pope, upon departure, sent a telegram to the Head of State, Sergio Mattarella. “At the moment in which I am about to leave for Budapest on the occasion of the final day of the International Eucharistic Congress, which was then directed to Slovakia to meet the brothers in the faith and the other inhabitants of that nation, – wrote the Pontiff – I am pleased to address You Mr. President and to the entire Italian people my cordial thoughts which I accompany with sincere wishes of serenity and generous commitment for the common good “.
