The man was engaged in unmooring operations when, for reasons under investigation, one of the cables that secured the ship to the quay suddenly broke, creating a whip effect that hit the sailor in the chest. The 118 intervention was immediate together with the Port Authority of Livorno and Polmare personnel. The doctors who intervened, after some resuscitation attempts, could not help but ascertain the death of the seafarer. The military of the Coast Guard and the Polmare have meanwhile carried out the first checks to provide support to the magistrate on duty who, arrived at the scene of the accident together with the staff of the Department of prevention, hygiene and safety in the workplaces of Livorno for the first checks , ordered the stop of the oil tanker moored at the Petroli dock of the port as a precaution and about to leave for Genoa.
